“I had 20/20 vision until about 12 years ago, when I started working with computers. Then my eyesight quickly deteriorated – at first, I only needed glasses for driving, but eventually, I had to wear them all the time.

“Permanently” was a problem, as I had a knack for losing, stepping on, or breaking my glasses. If I was reading, I’d put them on my head, and when I returned them to my nose, they were either tangled in my hair or covered with fingerprints. Contact lenses weren’t the solution either – they made my eyes dry, itchy, and eventually prone to infections.

I am the director of two companies: Sparkys s.r.o., an expanding chain of toy and gift shops (which will have 15 locations by the end of 2005), and Piccollo s.r.o., the exclusive distributor of Chicco, Columbia Sportswear, and Loap.

When I’m not in the office, you’ll find me on the tennis court or out for a run with my dog. Glasses slowed me down – I was always looking for them, cleaning them, or replacing them. I used to wear contacts for tennis and can’t count the number of times I nearly crashed my car while trying to put them in on the way to a match.

Having LASIK surgery at the Refractive Center Prague has revolutionized my life. It’s extraordinary that I can now see the clock across the room – even if it just confirms what I previously suspected: I’m late!

For the first few weeks, I kept thinking I still had my contact lenses in and tried to take them out. The operation was painless and efficient, and I truly appreciated the time and care the doctors gave in explaining the procedure and potential risks. I feel like a born again – with an evangelical need to tell the world about the benefits of this miraculous surgery.”
