The gift of sight is precious and as such it should not be taken for granted but looked after accordingly. Preventive eye check-up serves not only to determine a dioptre error<\/strong> but also to detect in good time the potential onset of serious eye diseases<\/strong>. These often creep up on us unnoticed and the patient would remain unaware. A typical example is glaucoma \u2013 it develops gradually and painlessly and if neglected may result in a complete loss of sight. If the window of opportunity for treatment is missed, it could be too late.<\/p>\n

If you happen to be one of those suffering from a disease that may affect eye sight<\/strong> (for example diabetes and high blood pressure) you should have your eyes checked-up regularly. Another reason that ought to result in a visit to your ophthalmologist is the existence of eye diseases in the family<\/strong> such as glaucoma or cataract.<\/p>\n

Preventive examination<\/strong> of the eyes is something everyone should do at least once every two years. After the age of 40 this should be increased to at least once a year. Our complex eye examination takes about 90 to 120 minutes. It is entirely painless. It involves establishing complete eye anamnesis, determining exact dioptre error, a thorough examination of the frontal segment of the eye, measuring of the intraocular pressure as well as the Schirmer test.<\/p>\n

In addition, during the examination we also check the rear of the eye whereby it is necessary to administer special eye drops that dilate the pupil. We perform the examination of the cornea and the entire frontal segment of the eye using PENTACAM<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
