Cataract and a simultaneous solution for presbyopia<\/h4>\n

In patients with\u00a0<\/span>cataract<\/b><\/a>, we frequently also come across <\/span>symptoms of presbyopia<\/b>. The patients therefore use <\/span>different correction on close-up and distance<\/b>. If, in such a case, removal of the cloudy lens is planned and it is to be replaced with an artificial one, it is possible to make use of a modern technique known as monovision,\u00a0<\/span>multifocal implant or an EDOF<\/b> implant<\/b><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The choice of suitable lens depends on the combination of the <\/span>patient\u2019s needs and the findings on his\/her eyes<\/b>. Today\u2019s elderly often still drive well into an advanced age, they enjoy a rich cultural and social life, work with computers, tablets, mobiles and pursue numerous other activities. <\/span>Independence from having to wear glasses<\/b> is thus desirable even at this age. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Apart from the desire of the patient to go ahead with this surgery, another <\/span>deciding factor<\/b> in implanting this type of intraocular lens is <\/span>good overall health condition of the eye<\/b>. Some post-trauma conditions may make a patient not eligible for the surgery, similarly as patients with advanced form of glaucoma or macular degeneration.\u00a0As in all other cases, before the surgery it is essential to undergo a <\/span>thorough examination<\/b>. There may possibly be need for other types of specialised examinations as well e.g. perimetric examination, OCT examination of the central part of the retina or analysis of the layer of nerve cells of the optic nerve. The probability of associated pathology of the eye increases with increasing age and it is absolutely essential to <\/span>eliminate all cases<\/b> where it would be more suitable to implant a regular monofocal implant.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
