  • Make yourself comfortable and ask the nurse for coffee or tea. Kindly wait to be given further instructions from one of our staff.
  • We commence the preparations by measuring your blood pressure.
  • Should you so require, you may be given a tranquiliser (Diazepam).
  • The application of anaesthetic eye drops, mydriatic eye drops as well as antibiotic eye drops follows over the duration of next 90 minutes.
  • Before the procedure itself, you will remove your shoes and change into apparel designated for the operating theatre (you may not carry on wearing your underwear and it is absolutely necessary that you remove all your jewellery and watch).
  • The procedure itself takes about 15 minutes.
  • The operated eye will be protected by a bandage after the surgery. This bandage does not restrict you from regular movement and it does not irritate the eye (it is possible to wear your glasses over this bandage).
  • Once you are taken from the operating theatre back into the room, we recommend you relax for some time.
  • You will be given eye drops and a spare bandage for the night to take home with you.
  • Once your blood pressure has been checked, you may get dressed and leave accompanied by your pre-arranged escort.
  • It is a possibility to use public transportation to go home (only when accompanied by someone).
