For Foreign Patients
FAQ
This depends on the type of surgery. The minimum length of stay in Prague in case of laser eye surgery is two nights. In case of intraocular surgery, we recommend a minimum stay of three nights in Prague. Only one night will do in case of plastic eyelid surgery. Should you opt to remain in Prague for longer and combine your stay with vacation, then you can take advantage of at least one extra post-surgery check-up at our clinic.
The post-surgery check-ups are included in the price of the procedure and are guaranteed to you in your contract. It is absolutely necessary to undergo at the first post-surgery check-up at our clinic. Most of our foreign patients continue follow-up visits at their local ophthalmologist’s at home. Patients may remain in regular contact with us and may consult their feeling and perceptions with us.
You may undertake your post-surgery check-ups at our clinic should you happen to be in Prague. We guarantee free of charge check-ups for up to two years post-surgery.
All our surgeons speak both English as well as German. With some of them, you will be able to communicate also in Russian or French. Our other personnel too are able to communicate in some foreign languages. All the necessary documents, information materials and contracts are prepared for you at least in English and German.
Landing in Prague at the Vaclav Havel International Airport, you have two options of getting yourself to the city centre where the clinic is based. The cheaper of the two options is public transportation. The combined journey on the bus connecting with the underground metro, takes about an hour. You may also choose to make use of the shuttle bus which the sign AE – this takes you directly to the main train station and takes about 45 minutes. The clinic is a 5-minute walk from the main train station.
The other a bit dearer option is taxi. You may catch a taxi right outside the terminal building. Should you be interested, we can arrange transfer for you with a taxi company that we have an arrangement with. Here we guarantee fixed price as well as a driver who will communicate in other languages than only Czech. The driver would wait for you in the arrivals hall and will wait for you even in case of a delay. The trip into the city centre with a taxi normally takes about 35 minutes but this depends on the prevailing traffic situation.
We recommend our patients to come with someone, but it is not absolutely necessary. Each of our patients must decide for themselves whether or not to come accompanied. We will be happy and prepared to be of help with your trip planning. And will provide all essential information readily.
Right from the very beginning of your contact with the clinic you will be looked after by an English (German) speaking co-ordinator. She will be available at all times to communicate as per e-mail or over the phone. She will also provide you with all the necessary information regarding planning of your trip or any queries that you may have.
Currently we offer packages including complete services including transfers. We do not arrange tickets or sort out any other transportation arrangements from your country of residence to Prague, however, we would be happy to provide advice on this matter. We can arrange your transfers as well as hotel stay for you in hotels that we have an arrangement with. We offer services to do with organising your trip and stay in Prague as well as the assistance of our co-ordinator completely free of charge.
Our co-ordinators will be happy to recommend an interesting program for you during your stay in Prague. These may range from visits to historical sites or cultural events. They can also recommend good restaurants or best shopping spots. All of this will be carefully planned with close attention to your planned procedure and the recommended post-surgery regime.
You may settle your bill for the entry examination, pre-surgery medical check-up or the surgical procedure itself immediately before the procedure at our clinic. You may settle in cash (CZK, EUR) or using card. Should you wish to settle your bill for our services via a bank transfer, kindly bear in mind that you will also have to cover all the relevant transfer costs to the bank.
Kindly effect payment for accommodation or for your airport transfers that we have organised for you directly at your hotel or to your driver.
Although the Czech Republic is a member of the European Union since 2004, the country still maintains its own currency – Czech Koruna (CZK). The Euro currency, however, is readily accepted in many venues. It is also possibly to pay almost everywhere using your card, but you will find having a little bit of cash readily available in the local currency handy. Should you prefer to settle for your procedure in Czech Koruna and decide to exchange money in Prague, our co-ordinators will recommend places where you can do so safely and at a good rate. Sadly, not all exchange bureaus in Prague boast an honest reputation.
We would be happy to help you organise accommodation in Prague. Due to fact that we are situated in the very city centre, there are a number of hotels in our vicinity. The closest hotels are just 100 metres away. We have an arrangement guaranteeing fixed favourable prices for our patients in some selected hotels. We will be happy to arrange your reservation at one of these and give you directions on how to get there.
