Some 350 families must come to terms each year with the fact that their child has a malignant tumour. In one third of all new cases this is leukaemia. It is encouraging to know that over 80% of children affected by this disease are cured.
The main role of the Citizen Association Vlaďka dětem, whose founder is one of our patients – Vlaďka Erbová, is to help ill children and their families who have asked for help.
The help needed is provided by the association especially through increasing the number and quality of medical equipment such as vital signs monitors, infusion pumps and perfusors, digital scales and other technical gadgets according to the prevailing need of the individual homeo-oncological wards.
One of the events that the association organises under the title STARS FOR THE CHILDREN and one that we regularly take part in is an advent wreath-making workshop led by the foremost Czech florists. This event is always supported by the participation of numerous cultural as well as sports celebrities.
