After the surgery

Home / Cataract / After the surgery
  • Once you reach home, apply eye drops as per instructions (until the time that you go to bed).
  • Before going to sleep exchange your bandage for a new one. It is not necessary to apply any eyedrops during the course of the night.
  • Remove the bandage in the morning and carry on applying the eyedrops as has been agreed on with your doctor.
  • Remember to begin applying the eyedrops (Yellox) into your other eye in preparation for its surgery the upcoming day.
  • Come in for your check-up the second day after the surgery.
  • After the check-up preparations for the surgery of your second eye will begin (identical to those before the surgery of your first eye).

Recommended post-surgery regime

  • The first day post-surgery – take it easy, avoid strenuous activities.
  • Do not lie down on the operated side for at least two days.
  • Avoid physical strain and bending forward for two weeks after the surgery.
  • Protect your eyes from accidents and avoid rubbing your eyes for at least one-month post-surgery.
  • Avoid infectious, exceedingly dusty or smoky environments.
  • Avoid visiting swimming pools, saunas, solar studios for at least one-month post-surgery. We also recommend avoiding all contact sports for the same duration.
  • Washing your face carries no risk (with the exception of contaminated water). We recommend refraining from using cosmetics products (make-up, mascara) for 1–2 weeks post-surgery (mostly to avoid irritation when removing such make-up).
  • Water (possibly with suds or shampoo) may irritate the eye but will not harm it.
  • When in doubt, always take up your concerns with one of our staff. In case of emergencies (even outside working hours or on days off) our SOS help-line is here for you to make use of it at any time.
