Nikol Kučerová

Acrobatic skier – Czech Republic

“From about the age of 15, I started wearing glasses because of my short-sightedness. At first, I couldn’t see the blackboard at school properly, but gradually my need for glasses became permanent. I found wearing glasses limiting, especially when playing sports – at higher speeds I wasn’t able to focus properly, and aiming precisely at slalom poles, for example, was a challenge,” says Nikol, for whom wearing glasses or contact lenses during sports was extremely impractical.

“Sometimes my contact lens would fall out and I’d have to deal with it out there on the slopes or in the forest while cycling. Usually, I managed to get it back in place, but it was quite challenging.” Contact lenses weren’t an ideal solution for surfing either. Nikol fell in love with surfing at one of the surf camps, and it was there that she decided to go ahead with laser eye surgery.

“I surfed the internet and looked for clinics that could help me. I read excellent reviews about Refractive Center Prague, and several people I knew confirmed the positive feedback. I decided to call RCP, and their super friendly and professional approach was all I needed to make my decision.”

“Most of all, I’m so pleased every time I instinctively go to take out my lenses, only to realise I don’t have to. Even better, waking up in the morning and being able to see clearly straight away is an amazing feeling after all these years,” says Nikol, who also told us that if she had to make the decision again, she would do it much sooner.
