It has been over eight years now that the Refractive Center Prague partakes in the organisation of charity activities to do with collecting no longer needed glasses and sending them to parts of the world where they are needed the most. For several years we have been sending glasses to Nepal, especially to the remote valley of Cchum, in collaboration with the Citizens’ Association Namaste Nepal. The glasses have been brought to this area with expeditions headed that way. Having saturated the demand in this region completely we decided to carry on helping. We established successful collaboration with the Lions Club International. There are collection boxes at the Refractive Center Prague where the donors may leave their no longer needed glasses, both prescription as well as protective. Once filled up the boxes are then sent by the Lions Club International to one of the international collection centres which in our case happens to be in Italy. Here the glasses are sorted and subsequently distributed around the world. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to the huge number of people who have contributed or continue to contribute to this cause. Every pair of glasses can make a difference, be it glasses from our patients who have successfully undergone eye surgery and no longer require their glasses or people from the far reaches of our country who made the effort to send us their no longer needed pairs by post.
Should you happen to have unnecessary pairs of glasses in your home (prescription, children’s’, protective) please do not hesitate to bring them to our clinic, the Refractive Center Prague based in Olivova 4, Praha 1, 110 00.
