Personal Life

“I was born and I live in Prague. I have a wonderful family that supports me completely in pursuing my work. Currently I am building up my own surgery in Prague 6 where I have taken over the established patient database while also transferring patients from my previous work places. I strive to create a very pleasant, comfortable as well as artistically interesting surgery where my patients, especially the younger ones, will always happily return. I am also grateful for the kind and friendly approach of my nurse, Lenka. The general ambiance of the place I want to create enables me to experience unforgettable moments such as a little boy saying to his mommy as they walk out the door “mommy, I would love to live here”. I am glad our patients feel at home in my surgery.”

About herself

“I like to surround myself with art, as such I also take my surgery as a sort of mini-gallery led by MgA. Martin Říha. My calling is to look after people’s eyes. Martin’s calling is providing something for the eyes to look at. I am a collector. I collect book-plates, old lorgnettes, spectacles and pince-nez. I am interested in interior design, drawing and painting. I enjoy working out in the garden and I try to live and behave in such a manner that I can look myself in the eye everyday.”

About her work

“I began to specialise in contact lenses in 1990. At the turn of the millennium I ranked first in the number of applied and sold contact lenses for the Bauch and Lomb company. I still work in the field of contact lenses today albeit on a much lesser scale. Today this field of work is much more interesting and exciting. Thanks to my work at the Refractive Center Prague I get to work with clients that are not suitable for refractive surgery and whose dioptre error is often quite complex and rather “hopeless”. The application of contact lenses and providing high quality service for precisely these patients is a big challenge for me.”
